EDT partners with Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) to conduct inspections for 64 private schools

On Wednesday 24th January 2024, EDT's CEO, Dan Sandhu, and Education Director, Tony McAleavy, were delighted to meet with His Excellency Mr Ali Al Hosani, Director of Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), at the Bett 2024 event in London. EDT will be conducting inspections for 64 private schools in the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on behalf of SPEA.

EDT is an established authority on school inspections in the UAE. With achievements including setting up Dubai's inaugural inspections framework in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, and reviewing school quality on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, we have been inspecting schools in the region for almost 30 years.

In Sharjah, EDT's qualified and experienced team will work side-by-side with the selected schools, who run multiple different curricula, to review the effectiveness of their provision and provide evidence-based advice and guidance for improvement. To achieve this, EDT will conduct and document reviews through visits to private schools and provide feedback to the schools and SPEA about each visit, verbally and documented in reports, with evidence supporting the outcomes.

Dan said: "I was delighted to meet with His Excellency to discuss not only EDT's upcoming inspections for SPEA, but also the wider challenges and opportunities across the education system. I look forward to working together further on improving education outcomes and supporting sustainable change. It's a pleasure to work with such a dynamic and forward-thinking team."

Our inspections team is delighted to be commencing the inspections in Sharjah and extending our impact in the UAE. Find out more about our work in accountability and school inspections.
