EDT named as provider for new NPQ in Leading Primary Mathematics

We are delighted to announce that Education Development Trust has been selected as a Lead Provider for the brand new NPQ in Leading Primary Maths (NPQLPM), for delivery from February 2024.

The new programme will further extend our range of NPQs for specialist teaching and leadership, and add to the suite of 8 other NPQ programmes that we offer, together with the Early Headship Coaching Offer.

Our National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) empower leaders and aspiring leaders to create conditions for change, embedding evidence-informed teaching and learning in the classroom, department, school, early years setting or trust.

The NPQLPM is designed for Primary teachers and leaders who already have a secure knowledge of mastery approaches to teaching mathematics, and either have responsibility for leading Primary Mathematics across a key-stage or school or want to have this responsibility.

The key aims of the programme are to support Primary Mathematics Leads in Primary Schools to:

  • Develop a school culture with a positive attitude to Primary Mathematics
  • Design and introduce Primary Mathematics curriculums
  • Support Primary Mathematics teachers in school.

To develop the curriculum and content for this NPQ, we will be partnering with White Rose Education, a well-known organisation focused on providing high-quality mathematics and science education resources for teachers and students. This strong partnership will combine White Rose Education’s expertise in Teaching for Mastery in Primary Mathematics, with EDT’s experience in NPQ design and delivery to develop the highest quality programme for all our participants.

Venessa Sixbery, Programme Director, Education Development Trust said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to build on our established suite of highly impactful NPQs. We welcome the Leading Primary Mathematics NPQ, as it will support the strengthening of primary mathematics teaching across the country. EDT is thrilled that White Rose Education, a leader in the development of Primary Mathematics teaching resources and training, will partner with us to develop the core curriculum design and content.”

Tony Staneff, Founder, White Rose Education commented on our partnership: "We are excited to be working together with Education Development Trust on their new Leading Primary Mathematics NPQ course. We are looking forward to collaborating with them on this transformative project, where we look to combine their expertise with NPQ course development with our subject expertise. We’re confident that together we will develop an engaging, practical programme that will support schools with effective primary mathematics pedagogy and leadership. We have a shared commitment to excellence and evidence-based methods, and we are really looking forward to working alongside the EDT team”.
